As one of the leading boarding schools in Scotland, ÓûÂþɬ is committed to fostering a warm, welcoming ‘home away from home’, where every child – boarding and day – feels understood, respected, safe, and fulfilled.
Our boarding school community benefits from a rich, balanced, and purposeful school experience, where pupils can take advantage of the longer school day to embrace our extensive extracurricular programme, further their academic pursuits, and make lifelong friends.
Let’s delve into what makes boarding at ÓûÂþɬ so special…
At the heart of the school is our close-knit community, where every pupil is known and nurtured. Our exceptional staff-to-pupil ratio (1:7) affords each child highly individualised care and mentorship. As a result, every pupil receives the guidance and encouragement they need to discover their strengths, grow in confidence and flourish academically, socially, and personally.
ÓûÂþɬ’s Boarding Houses add to our school’s strong sense of belonging and community. Pupils from Year Seven onwards are allocated to one of our five houses and placed under the care of dedicated Housemistresses and Housemasters. A place to call home, our Boarding Houses give pupils a chance to connect with and learn from others, develop invaluable life skills and form strong, lasting relationships.
Within this supportive and secure environment, our pupils are encouraged to explore new interests, pursue their passions, and develop into kind, well-rounded young people.

At ÓûÂþɬ, academic excellence is built upon a world-class curriculum and a personalised approach to teaching and learning. Our small class sizes mean that staff truly understand pupils – from their strengths and interests to their areas of development – and can guide them accordingly.
Taking a hybrid approach, ÓûÂþɬ incorporates elements of the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) in Junior School, before transitioning to the English curriculum in the Senior School. This model nurtures broad skills development and interests, while offering pupils the rigour and global recognition of GCSEs and A Level assessments, equipping them for higher education in the UK and internationally.
Through targeted support and a genuine belief in the potential of all our pupils, we help children to set ambitious goals for themselves and prepare them for their future.
When the school day is over, pupils are encouraged to pursue their interests and passions through an extensive list of after-school activities. Whether your child is interested in sports, the creative arts, our world-class golf programme, or even personal development, they can choose from a list of over 80 extracurricular activities designed to help them develop new skills, grow their network, and flourish at school. For pupils, the hours after the school day are often spent enjoying new hobbies, taking part in their favourite club, or simply enjoying a stroll around our leafy campus.
Our Saturday Enrichment Programme is an extension of our vast co-curricular offering. Here, pupils can choose from one of the many electives on offer, including journalism, beginners’ ceramics, psychopathology and more, to broaden their knowledge and abilities, build independence, and truly maximise their potential.
This vast co-curricular programme supports pupils to grow into capable, active, and passionate adults, setting ÓûÂþɬ apart as one of the leading boarding schools in Scotland.
Recognising that every family’s circumstances are different, we offer a range of flexible boarding options. These are designed to provide the correct balance of structure, support, and independence for every pupil:
Each option is underpinned by our inclusive boarding culture, ensuring pupils feel at home and supported to make the most of their school experience.
Located in Musselburgh, just a stone’s throw from Edinburgh city centre and a short walk from the beautiful East Lothian coastline, our campus offers the best of both town and countryside living.
With well-connected travel links nearby, including road, rail, and air, ÓûÂþɬ is easily accessible for families across the UK and overseas. Our 85-acre campus alone gives pupils plenty of natural space to explore and take on new adventures.
As pupils become more independent, there’s always the option of making a visit to the local high street, or a day trip to Edinburgh at the weekend, meaning boarding and day pupils can immerse themselves in Scotland’s rich culture, history, and surroundings.

It’s the blend of our welcoming and inclusive community, exceptional extracurricular and enrichment opportunities, flexible boarding options, prime location, and personalised approach to teaching that places each pupil at the centre of their learning journey. Â
Boarders and day pupils alike are supported to thrive both inside and outside the classroom, paving the way for their growth into confident, compassionate, and curious young adults.
